11 GU engg students fail in second attempt
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat University (GU) recently announced the results of the exam for 11 engineering and pharmacy students who had failed in 2007 and had dropped out.
Results showed that all the dropouts have failed again and lost their last chance to get the degree. The students had failed in exams when the colleges they were studying in were merged with the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) from the GU.

Last year, when these colleges were reaffiliated with GU, the university decided to take their exams again.

The university drafted question papers specially for these 11 students and had conducted the exam in July last year.
Sources in GU said that in 2007 when these colleges were merged with GTU, it was decided that the exam will be conducted by GU for the students who have failed which did not happen for over a decade and these students did not get another chance to take the repeat exam to get their degrees.
However, as these colleges were returned to GU by GTU in 2023, the university decided to conduct the exam for these 11 students. Sources said that even though the number of students was just 11, the exam was conducted for about 50 subjects.
This was the last chance to complete their course and get a degree from GU as the university is unlikely to conduct another exam for these students.
