Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has registered a case of mass cheating involving about 90 Class 10 students, a teacher appointed by the school as the exam supervisor, and the school principal at an exam centre in a village in Vadodara district.
Sources in the board stated that the incident occurred on March 16 at a grant-in-aid school exam centre in Anandi village of Shinor taluka in Vadodara district during the Class 10 science final exam.

According to sources, during the exam, one of the board-appointed representatives observed a teacher of the school, who was on exam supervision duty, moving between four exam halls dictating answers to students.
The board representative prepared a report of the incident and sent it to the board.
An official in the board mentioned that two senior officers were asked to investigate this incident. They found that the teacher had dictated answers to the objective question section. The investigation revealed that the teacher had dictated answers to about 90 students taking the exam in four exam halls.
Sources in the board indicated that the investigation also revealed that the teacher was dictating answers to students under the orders of the school’s principal.

The board has filed a formal complaint against the students, the teacher on supervision duty, and the principal of the school for mass cheating.
They stated that a formal hearing would be held by the exam reforms committee, and further action would be taken after conducting a hearing. According to sources in the board, two more cases of suspected mass cheating have also been reported and are under investigation.
They mentioned that exact details would be available only after the investigation is complete. The final exams for Class 10 and 12 were conducted during the March 11-26 period.
This year, 15.38 lakh students took board exams in the state, which includes 9.17 lakh students in Class 10, 1.32 lakh students in the Class 12 science stream, and 4.89 lakh students in the Class 12 general stream.
