Ahmedabad: Three men from
Udaipur in
Rajasthan allegedly cheated a bullion trader from Manek Chowk out of Rs 3 crore by not paying him for the silver and gold they took from him.
Chintan Thakkar, a 31-year-old from Chandkheda, filed a complaint with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) police on Friday. He said he has been in the bullion trading business for the past five years.
According to Thakkar, he encountered the first two suspects, Hitesh Rao and Pushpendra Rao, approximately a year ago.
Given their mutual involvement in bullion trading, they struck up a friendship. The duo allegedly requested Thakkar to supply them with gold and silver at wholesale rates for resale in Rajasthan.
Initially, transactions went smoothly, with the accused promptly settling their dues within a week. However, their behaviour took a turn after about a month, as they began dodging payments. Allegedly, Hitesh and Pushpendra owe Thakkar Rs 3.01 crore for 2.541kg of gold and 326 kg of silver.
