GSL kicks off with Avengers’ triumph

Ahmedabad: Brajesh Yadav was the first goal-scorer of the 1st edition of Gujarat Super League (GSL) as Ahmedabad Avengers eased to a 2-0 win over Surat Strikers in the opening match of the league on Wednesday. Captain Yadav found the back of the net in the 67th minute while Keisam Angelo Singh scored in the 86th minute to round of an easy win for the Avengers.

In the second match played on Thursday, Vadodara Warriors edged Gandhinagar Giants 1-0 courtesy a 61st minute goal by Tagru James.
Karnavati Knights began their campaign with a 3-1 triumph over Saurashtra Spartans. Captain Pratik Swami opened the scoring for Knights in the 8th minute. However, Spartans captain Moinuddin equalized by scoring in the 36th minute. Ramsinghbhai Rathwa put Knights back into the lead with a strike in the 57th minute while Vishesh Pandey’s 88th minute goal capped off a superb triumph. TNN
