GWSSB staffer caught taking 1.2L bribe
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested a deputy executive engineer at the Gujarat Water Supply & Sewerage Board (GWSSB) in Dhandhuka for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1.2 lakh. The ACB officials said the complainant had carried out repair and maintenance work to facilitate water supply to 54 villages in Dhandhuka taluka.
However, to expedite the payment process and avoid deductions in the bills submitted, Vaibhav Srivastava, the accused, demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 per month.
He cleared the bills for four months and asked the complainant to pay him Rs 1.2 lakh. The complainant contacted the ACB and the officials laid a trap. Srivastava was caught accepting the money. The ACB has registered a complaint and is further investigating. tnn
