Union minister Amit Shah claimed on Tuesday evening that the BJP has likely won 100 seats in the first two phases of the Lok Sabha election, and the BJP’s juggernaut is hurtling towards the 400-seat mark. He was speaking at an election rally in Naroda.
“Today, I want to tell you what has happened in the fi rst two phases of the election. Narendra Modi has hit a century (of seats) in the fi rst two phases and the BJP’s chariot is hurtling towards the 400-seat mark,” Shah said amid loud cheers from supporters.
He added that Gujarat has given a model that has made Modi so popular across the country.
Taking a dig at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who had earlier this month said that the PM should talk about farmers in states like Rajasthan and Gujarat instead of talking about the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir, Shah said, “Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge asked what people of Rajasthan or Gujarat have to do with Kashmir. Every youth of Naroda is willing to sacrifi ce his life for Kashmir.” Shah went on to add that the earlier Congress govts “preserved Article 370 because of vote bank politics and terrorism fl ourished as a result. Terrorism is more or less wiped out from the country now”. The Union home minister said that Naxalism, which was once widely spread across the Red Corridor, but has been wiped from most states. “Traces of Naxalism remain in Chhattisgarh. Now that a BJP govt is in that state, it will also be eradicated from there. In the next two years, Naxalism will be obliterated from the country,” he said.
Shah said that Gujarat is emerging as a hub for semiconductor, EV, battery and green hydrogen production in the country and these sectors will dominate the world economy over the next 25 years. “Ahmedabad is soon going to be a destination for the generation of many jobs,” the Union minister added.
He said the Congress criticized projects like the BRTS, metro rail and the Sabarmati Riverfront, but people from across the country come to see them. “The UPA govt did not give Gujarat crude royalty of Rs 14,000 crore, had stalled Gujarat’s anti-terror law and prolonged the Narmada project. All these were cleared under Narendra Modi’s tenure,” he added.
