CAS applications pending for 6 months
Ahmedabad: Applications of about 20 teachers from Gujarat University to get benefits under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) have been pending for the last six months.
According to the University Grants Commission (UGC) rules, teachers who have completed 10 years of employment are entitled to benefits including salary increases and promotions under CAS.
According to sources, the university had asked teachers to apply for CAS about six months ago and about 20 teachers did so.

However, the university has not conducted interviews yet, saying they have not received permission from the state govt.
Sources said that some of the senior teachers who have applied for CAS benefits want to retire under the voluntary retirement scheme but are waiting for CAS and will resign as soon as these benefits are accorded.
