Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The economic offences wing (EOW) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar arrested Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha office-bearer Abhishek Jaiswal (39) and his brother Amrish (45) on charges of obtaining a loan of Rs nine crore from Malkapur Urban cooperative bank by submitting forged documents of a property not owned by them.
“The controversy centres around a piece of land spanning 2395.94 square meters located on Sillekhana-Samarthnagar road of the city.
Originally owned by Sheikh Parvez Ahmed and his family members, the land caught Jaiswal’s attention for some time. However, failing to obtain it through legitimate means, Jaiswal allegedly resorted to creating false documents in collaboration with certain officials,” said EOW inspector Sambhaji Pawar.
The situation escalated when Rajendra Jadhav, an official from Malkapur Urban Cooperative Bank lodged a complaint stating that Jaiswal had defaulted on instalments towards repayment of the loan.
Subsequently, a seizure notice was issued for the disputed land. However, the Ahmed family, who claimed rightful ownership, provided documents substantiating their claim, thereby exposing the fraudulent purchase document concocted by Jaiswal.
Further investigation confirmed the document’s falsity, following which an FIR against the accused and some others, including his family members, was registered at Vedantnagar police station on Thursday.
The accused have been remanded in five days police custody.
