NCP (SCP) candidate hits back as Munde shows his Kunbi papers
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: NCP (SCP) candidate Bajrang Sonawane on Saturday hit back at BJP after his Kunbi certificate was made public by state cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde .
Dhananjay, while campaigning for his cousin and BJP candidate Pankaja Munde on April 25, had produced the Kunbi certificate of Sonawane.
“State govt decided to offer Kunbi certificate to Marathas and necessary GR was issued in Jan 11.
Sonawane, the owner of two sugar factories, was so poor that he applied for OBC certificate on Jan 14 and obtained it. He later utilized the certificate to contest local election also,” Dhanajay said.
Accusing Sonawane of remaining aloof from the agitation for Maratha reservation since the beginning, Dhanajay Munde accused the NCP (SCP) candidate of spreading lies on the quota issue.
In response, Sonawane said Munde cousins should come out with proof of development in Beed, instead of his personal documents.
“I got the OBC certificate due to efforts of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange. It is insulting to make public my certificate during an election rally,” he said.
Accusing the BJP camp of running out of development issues, Sonawane said the opponents targeting him over personal matter indicate towards the frustration.
Sonawane, who had lost the last Lok Sabha election from Beed as the NCP candidate, has sided with Sharad Pawar for the Lok Sabha polls.
Once considered a close aide of Dhanajay Munde, he has now locked horns with him.
