Bhubaneswar: The BJD and the state unit of the
BJP on Saturday brought allegations against each other’s MLA candidates for this general election of trying to influence voters by distributing freebies.
The BJD accused BJP’s MLA candidate for Khallikote, Purna Chandra Sethy, of distributing free ration to the people of the constituency.
BJD said Sethy, with his supporters distributed atta, edible oil and salt packets to the people to influence them.
The BJD, terming it as a violation of the model code of conduct, demanded strict action against Sethy and the BJP leaders associated in the activity.
Similarly, the state BJP brought allegation against BJD’s MLA candidate for Dhenkanal, Sudhir Kumar Samal, of distributing bicycles to the people in the constituency in order to gain their trust in the elections by unfair means.
