CHANDIGARH: A day after three independent MLAs withdrew support to Nayab Singh Saini-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) govt in
Haryana to announce support to the Congress, another salvo has been fired on the ruling
BJP and its candidates in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Interacting with media in Dadri on Wednesday, Independent MLA Somvir Sangwan asserted that their “exodus is just the beginning of the downfall of the BJP govt in the state”.
On Tuesday, Sangwan, Ranbir Singh Golan from Pundri and Dharam Pal Gondar from Nilokheri had “withdrawn support” to the BJP during the media briefing held in Rohtak in the presence of former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Udai Bhan.
“You shall see now more and more MLAs, even from the BJP, joining the Congress. They are feeling frustrated. People from other parties are already joining,’’ Sangwan said on Wednesday. He hinted at approaching the governor and the speaker for handing over the letter of withdrawing support to the govt. Former Union minister and AICC general secretary Kumari Selja, contesting from Sirsa, asked Saini to step down on “moral grounds” and urged governor to announce President’s Rule to ensure a “level-playing field in the state”.
