Chennai teenager, friends murder elderly woman as she had revealed his love affair to his parents

CHENNAI: Chennai police arrested a teenager and his two friends on charges of murdering a 58-year-old woman in Thiruvanmiyur on Thursday.
Police said the crime was committed by the teenager and his friends as the elderly woman had informed the juvenile’s parents about his love affair and about his drinking habit.
Police identified the victim as Ponni, 58, wife of Sathyamoorthy, who resided at Renganathapuram in Thiruvanmiyur.She was residing with her son-in-law Ayyappan, a carpenter.
Around 8.30pm on Thursday, Ayyappan returned home after work and found Ponni lying in the kitchen with injuries on her neck.
He alerted the Thiruvanmiyur police. Police rushed to the spot. They registered a case of murder and began investigations. While interrogating the neighbours, they found that Ponni had earlier informed the juvenile’s parents about his love affair.
“His parents had warned him about the same and asked him not to roam around with Vignesh, 20, and another friend Dinakaran,21. But he did not pay heed to the same and continued roaming around with them. Recently, the three suspects came to know that Ponni had been informing the juvenile’s parents about their activities,” said a police officer.
Angry about this, the three went to her house and pushed her down. They then cut her neck with a sharp weapon and fled the place.
