Tamil Nadu Class 10 results see a big jump in centums in maths, social science

CHENNAI: The number of centums in Class X maths in Tamil Nadu state board exam has jumped by more than five times compared to last year. From 3,649 centums in 2023, it jumped to 20,691 in 2024. Likewise English, social science, science and Tamil also recorded an increase in centums this year.
While 415 students scored full marks in English, 5,104 got full marks in science.In social science, 4,428 got 100% results and eight students scored centum in Tamil.
The Directorate of Government Examinations declared the Class X results on Friday. Of 8,94,264 candidates who appeared for the exam, 8,18,743 cleared it. The pass percentage is 91.55% which is .16% higher compared to previous year.
Of 4,47,061 girls who appeared for the exam, 4,22,591 cleared it. The pass percentage is 94.53%. Of 4,47,203 boys, 3,96,152 cleared the exam. The pass percentage is 88.58% which is 5.95% less compared to girls.
Of 12,625 schools, 4,105 got 100% pass. As many as 1,364 govt schools got 100% results this year.
While private schools logged 97.43% pass, government schools recorded 87.9% pass and government-aided schools registered 91.77% pass.
Of the five subjects, English had the highest pass percentage with 99.15% while social science had the least pass percentage of 95.74%.
This year 13,510 disabled children wrote the exam. Of them, 12,491 cleared it. The pass percentage is 92.45%. Of the 260 prisoners, 228 cleared the exam.
Among the districts, Ariyalur district topped with 97.31% pass percentage while Sivagangai registered 97% and Ramanathapuram recorded 96.36%.
