TN man arrested for illegal possession of 600 bottles of liquor for sales
COIMBATORE: The Enforcement Bureau on Friday arrested a 44-year-old man from Anthiyur in Erode district for illegal possession of 600 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) for sales at his residence.
The arrested man has been identified as S Suresh Kumar, 44, of Mudaliar Street at Anthiyur.
P Shanmugam, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Enforcement Bureau, and his team got a tip-off that Suresh Kumar possessed bottles of liquor at his residence of sales.A police team carried out a search at his residence around 8 am and found 600 bottles of IMFL there.
He possessed brandy, whisky, rum, vodka and beer for sales. The police seized the liquor bottles from him.
Enforcement bureau police registered a case against Suresh Kumar under a few sections of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act and arrested him. He was remanded in judicial custody.
DSP Shanmugam said the police teams were gathering the details of Tasmac staffers who had supplied huge quantities of liquor to Suresh Kumar for illegal sales in the black market.
