New Delhi: Delhi Police is planning to request the Juvenile Justice Board that two minors, caught for the alleged murder of a man in northeast Delhi, be tried as adults. The murder was suspects’ third crime in the last 10 months, police said.
The victim Nazir was repeatedly stabbed allegedly by a group of four boys in northeast Delhi's Jafrabad on May 5.
The incident was captured in a video, which showed one of them repeatedly stabbing Nazir while he lay on the ground near Mangla Hospital Wali Gali in Chauhan Bangar.
During investigation, four juveniles were apprehended, who claimed that Nazir had threatened them a few days prior to his killing, a senior police officer said.
The inquiry revealed that two of the apprehended were also involved in a cab driver’s murder in Jafrabad in July last year. "They wanted to rob the driver, but when he objected, he was stabbed in the neck," the officer said, adding that they were also apprehended for possession of illegal firearms in 2023.
