Panchkula: The new deputy commissioner of Panchkula, 2009-batch IAS officer Yash Garg, assumed charge on Monday. He was accorded a warm welcome by officers of the district administration at the mini-secretariat. Garg, who holds a vast experience in administrative services, on the first day of his joining said his foremost priority was to ensure fair, transparent and peaceful Lok Sabha
elections.
He held an introductory meeting with senior officers and directed them to work as a team. He also reviewed the preparations being made for the successful conduct of elections in the district and issued necessary directions.
Garg has also been given the charge of chief administrator of Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board. Before being appointed as Panchkula DC, Garg was holding the post of managing director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) and Haryana Financial Corporation.
He has also served as the deputy commissioner of Gurugram, Rewari and Rohtak, and commissioner of Faridabad municipal corporation. Before it, Garg was deputed as the director and special secretary, industries and commerce department, and adviser and special secretary, civil aviation department.
Garg holds an MBBS degree from Maulana Azad Medical College and had worked as a junior resident at Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi. He had secured sixth rank in his UPSC exam.
