BJP files plaint on removal of party banners in city
Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party filed a complaint with Telangana chief electoral officer Vikas Raj on Thursday over destroying and removing party’s banners across the city.
BJP general secretary G Premender Reddy said: “Miscreants were destroying and tearing off our banners across Hyderabad. Hoardings that were installed over bus shelters, after obtaining due permission from the Election Commission and officials concerned, are being destroyed by these miscreants.
For example, near VV Nagar Road, Dilsukhnagar, the hoarding erected at the bus shelter has been destroyed. In another instance, in the same locality, another hoarding erected at Dilsukhnagar main road has also been destroyed.”
He said the party believes these acts were being carried out at the behest of Congress and with its active connivance. “Soon after Delhi police notice to chief minister A Revanth Reddy for his alleged involvement in morphing and circulating a video of the Union home minister, these attacks on our hoardings have intensified,” he claimed.
He said they are apprehensive that this may spread to districts, and Congress workers, under the guise of unknown entities, may take recourse to similar acts. “Also, unauthorised hoardings and flexis are being erected all across the city, demonising the Union govt with false narratives,” he said.
“For instance, at the Biodiversity flyover at Gachibowli which falls under Chevella constituency, a huge banner is set up with false narratives. Hyderabad police are removing saffron flags which common people have hoisted on their respective houses during Sri Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. Police are entering private properties of residents and removing the flags. This is unprecedented,” Reddy complained. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar is campaigning at the behest of Congress and no action has been initiated against him so far, BJP said.
