HYDERABAD: Congress on Thursday released its second list of candidates for five Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, which goes to the polls on May 13. Incidentally, four of the five candidates crossed over to Congress from BRS in recent times.
BRS MLA from Khairatabad Danam Nagender would contest from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, while sitting MP G Ranjith Reddy will be in the fray from Chevella.
G Vamsi Krishna, son of Chennur MLA G Vivek, would be the candidate from Peddapalli SC seat, while former minister Patnam Mahender Reddy’s wife Patnam Sunita Mahender Reddy would be in the electoral battle from the crucial Malkajgiri seat, which was earlier represented by A Revanth Reddy in the Lok Sabha.

Danam, Ranjit Reddy, Vamsi and Sunita Mahender Reddy have crossed over from BRS, while Congress loyalist Mallu Ravi, who is the brother of deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, secured the party ticket for Nagarkurnool SC seat.
Though the name of former GHMC mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan was doing rounds for the contest in Secunderabad to take on BJP candidate and Union minister and BJP Telangana chief G Kishan Reddy, Nagender, who joined the grand old party on Sunday last, bagged the seat. As BRS and BJP announced candidates for Malkajgiri LS seat too, the contest is likely to be interesting.
The electoral contest in Chevella too is likely to be interesting as three turncoats, sitting MP Ranjith Reddy, BRS’ nominee Kasani Gnaneswar, who was TTDP president and changed parties many times, and BJP’s Konda Vishweswar Reddy, who moved from BRS to Congress and finally to BJP, are in the fray.
Three parties have named candidates for Peddpalli with former minister Koppula Eshwar being BRS candidate and BJP named turncoat Gomasa Srinivas as its candidate. Srinivas quit the grand old party and joined the saffron party recently
Sources said Congress might name a Madiga candidate from Warangal SC seat. Also, the party is mulling to field a Muslim woman candidate or Feroze Khan from Hyderabad.
