Edu institutes bought bonds worth crores

Telangana educational institutes and businesses, including Sri Chaitanya and Varsity Education, purchased electoral bonds worth crores. Several other entities like T Sharks Overseas Education Consultancy and Aditya Birla group were also involved in significant transactions.

HYDERABAD: Not just pharma and realty firms, educational institutions from Telangana too bought electoral bonds worth crores of rupees, ECI records show.
The list includes Sri Chaitanya Students Facility Management, Varsity Education Management, and T Sharks Overseas Education Consultancy among others. These seem to be the only educational institutes in India to have purchased electoral bonds.
While Sri Chaitanya purchased bonds worth 10 crore on April 8, 2022, and 6 crore on Jan 11, 2024, Varsity Education, which is an entity of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, bought bonds for 2 crore on April 8, 2022.

T Sharks, meanwhile, bought 4 crore worth bonds on July 12, 2023. T Sharks Infra Developers, which is run by the same group as Overseas Consultancy, bought bonds for 3.5 crore on same date.
Another name found in the documents is that of Koneru Raviteja, founder of Preksha Edutech, who bought bonds worth 19.9 lakh on April 8, 2022.
Interestingly, at the time when all these institutes purchased bonds, BRS got crores of rupees into its account.
