Hyderabad: After discovering that Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy, BJP leaders and other opposition leaders were kept under surveillance, police have found that constitutional functionaries were also allegedly kept under vigil by the accused, arrested for illegal phone tapping during the previous BRS govt.
“Praneeth Rao and his team also prepared profiles of constitutional functionaries of the state and used to share that information with private persons for his own benefit,” police told the Nampally court in counters filed to oppose bail applications of the accused. However, police did not disclose who those constitutional functionaries were.
After nearly one-and-half-month investigation into the illegal phone tapping case, Hyderabad police have declared absconding Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) former chief T Prabhakar Rao as the prime accused in the case.
On Monday, the agency informed the development to the Nampally court. Police have not only made Prabhakar Rao an accused, but he was declared as accused number 1 (A1), by rearranging the sequence of accused.
Along with Prabhakar Rao, police have made A Shravan Kumar, a senior executive of a vernacular media, as an accused in the case. He was also declared as absconding.
Prior to the development, cops had declared four policemen — SIB former DSP D Praneeth Rao, additional superintendents of police Bhujanga Rao and Tirupathanna, former DCP (Task Force) Radhakishan Rao — as accused. Earlier, Praneeth Rao was the prime accused and now he was replaced by Prabhakar Rao as A1. Shravan was declared as accused number 6.
Already, a look out circular (LOC) has been issued against both Prabhakar Rao and Shravan. Prabhakar Rao is suspected to be in the US.
