Heatwave across Telangana, 44.5°C in Suryapet: IMD

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department on Saturday declared heatwave over parts of Telangana.
The season’s highest temperatures were observed on Saturday at Suryapet which sizzled at 44.5 degree Celsius as per the Telangana State Development Planning Society.
Bhadradi Kothagudem and Nalgonda also recorded the same temperature.
Currently, Telangana is in a state of heatwave, noted India Meteorological Department while issuing further warning for Sunday in districts like Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthi, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

Hyderabad also recorded high temperatures. According to Telangana State Development Planning Society, Moosapet was the hottest spot in the city recording 41.9 degree Celsius, followed by Goshamahal with 41.8 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the director of public health department issues warning against heatwave urging citizens to take adequate measures. The department advised immediate medical attention if one feels anxiety, dizziness, fainting and light headedness.

The advisory by Dr B Ravinder Nayak, director of public health & family welfare, said red and dry skin, muscle weakness or cramps, nausea and vomiting, rapid heartbeat and rapid and shallow breathing are signs that calls for medical attention.
