HYDERABAD: Jharkhand governor CP Radhakrishnan has been given the additional charge of Telangana, marking the third instance of a Tamil Nadu native holding the gubernatorial post in the state. He will assume office on Wednesday.
Radhakrishnan will also hold the additional responsibility of lieutenant governor of Puducherry. Accepting the resignation of Tamilisai Soundararajan, who quit as Telangana governor on Monday, President Droupadi Murmu gave additional charge to Radhakrishnan.
Sources said Radhakrishnan will arrive in city from Ranchi on Wednesday noon and take oath in Raj Bhavan.

Radhakrishnan, a two-time BJP MP from Coimbatore, was appointed Jharkhand governor in 2023.
While Tamilisai is a native of Tamil Nadu, Telangana's first governor ESL Narasimhan is also from Tamil Nadu.
Radhakrishnan thanked Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for the additional responsibility. "I am humbled and blessed to be given the additional responsibility to serve as the governor of Telangana and lieutenant governor of Puducherry," he posted on X.
In Feb this year, Radhakrishnan made headlines amid allegations that Raj Bhavan was involved in Jharkhand former CM Hemant Soren's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
Tamilisai resigned amid speculation that she would contest the Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket. She is said to be a contender for Chennai South seat.
