Nethanna Bharosa for welfare of weavers soon, says Revanth
Hyderabad: The state govt will soon come out with ‘Nethanna Bharosascheme for the benefit of weavers in Telangana.
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy directed the officials to come out with the new scheme for the welfare of handloom and powerloom workers. Apart from making efforts to set up Indian Institute of Handloom Technology in the state, renovate handloom park, develop new powerloom clusters, he asked officials to unveil a new technical textile policy.

“The state govt is pursuing with the central govt for release of pending funds along with increased allocations for weavers under various schemes. The previous BRS govt has not cleared ₹488 crore dues to Telangana State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Ltd (Tesco) towards Bathukamma sarees. In the last three months, the Congress govt paid ₹47 crore in advance and funds have been released for purchase of yarn and other material,” a senior official said.
Citing interference of traders and brokers, a CMO source said: “There are 393 handloom cooperative societies in the state, but only 105 cooperative societies have been given work.”
Various govt departments have given Tesco ₹255 crore worth orders, the source said.
“If we look at the previous purchases made from these, bills paid, and their electricity consumption, about 30 per cent of the bogus societies have recently come out in the preliminary investigation,” said the source.
