HYDERABAD: Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai on Monday expressed his admiration for the Telangana BJP unit, citing its determination as an example and inspiration for the Tamil Nadu unit’s fight to become the strongest opposition in the state.
Addressing a youth rally in Karimnagar supporting former Telangana BJP chief and party’s Karimnagar candidate Bandi Sanjay, Annamalai remarked, “The entire Tamil Nadu unit looks up to the Telangana unit with admiration, with every cadre inspired by the spirited fight and sacrifices made by the Telangana BJP team.”
Annamalai continued his praise by highlighting the impact of Bandi Sanjay and other BJP leaders’ padayatras in Telangana.
“The padayatras by Bandi Sanjay and others have been transformative in Telangana; my visit here and participation in the padayatra inspired me to undertake one in Tamil Nadu. It isn’t easy to walk for the people. During my visit in the summer, I saw how eager people were to speak with Sanjay Anna (brother) and take selfies with him. I am confident that the BJP will form the govt in Telangana after the Lok Sabha elections, given the Congress party’s deceit in winning the Nov 2023 assembly election with false guarantees,” Annamalai said.
He urged BJP activists to spend the remaining five days working towards securing the largest majority for Bandi Sanjay in the state. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds Sanjay Anna in high regard, so over the next five days, please visit every village and secure 100 votes each for our Anna,” he urged.
In his interaction with the media after the youth rally, Annamalai criticised chief minister Revanth Reddy’s remarks about “donkey’s egg” and his allegations against the BJP on reservations. “What's going on with Revanth Garu? Initially, he praised PM Modi during his first month of his tenure, but perhaps a call from Sonia Gandhi warning him about his CM position led him to turn against the PM. Congress leaders are involved in the creation of a bogus film of Union home minister Amit Shah, while our Telangana BJP leaders continue to fight against unlawful Muslim reservations,” he stated.
