HC notice to T, police on Praneeth plea
Hyderabad: Justice G Radha Rani of Telangana HC on Tuesday directed state and police to convey their stand on petition filed by arrested intelligence DSP D Praneeth Kumar, who challenged police custody granted by a trial court, by Wednesday.
“Court granted custody to police without verifying that there was no place to sleep at Panjagutta PS. It should have asked police to send me back to prison at end of day’s interrogation,” he said.
He charged police with selectively leaking info of investigation.
“Police are questioning me at Banjara Hills PS and are not allowing me to meet my relatives or lawyers,” he said.
He raised objections over allowing additional SP, Special Intelligence Branch, D Ramesh, to question him. “Copy of the court granting my custody to police was not made available to me,” he said, adding it was supplied only upon application by him. Except for saying he should not be subjected for quizzing between 8pm-8am, there were no other conditions imposed by trial court, he said. tnn
