Hyderabad: Telangana upset defending champions IA & AD 3-0 in the 40+ men's team quarterfinals in the UTT 30th Masters National Table Tennis Championships at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium here on Sunday. After several years IA & AD are out of medal reckoning. Zubair Farooqui beat Abu Rizwan 3-2 to win the opening tie for Telangana. V Chandrachud made it 2-0 when he beat Sujay Chaturvedi.
Deepesh Singh downed Srivats Chakravarthy 3-2 to win the rubber for Telangana. Maharashtra pair of Mythili Sodhi and Rajeshwari Mhetre defeated Chhaya Yadav and Rita Jain of Madhya Pradesh 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9 in the women's doubles 65+ final. tnn
