Tension grips Srikalahasti after miscreant pelts stone on Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah during election campaign
Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah was attacked by a miscreant in a stone pelting incident near Srikalahasti in Tirupati district.
TIRUPATI: Tension gripped the Srikalahasti assembly constituency in Tirupati district, after an unidentified miscreant, pelted a stone on Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah during his election campaign, being carried out at the Yerpedu mandal in Srikalahasti, in support of the local YSRCP legislator Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy on Thursday.
Srikalahasti legislator told reporters that some miscreant hurled a stone with an attempt to either hit him or R Krishnaiah and escaped into the dark.

"The stone which hit R Krishnaiah, left a bruise on his back. Luckily it didn't hit his head as otherwise the injury could have been a serious one", Madhusudhan Reddy noted.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha MP slammed the TDP for instigating such attacks on the ruling party. "Earlier Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked by a miscreant with a stone. And now they have carried out an attack on us. While elections are expected to be conducted in a free and fair atmosphere, the TDP wants to instigate violence", R Krishnaiah accused.
The YSRCP contingent also accused TDP candidate Bojjala Sudheer Reddy to have masterminded the attack. They added that they will lodge a complaint with the local police as well as with the election commission to book the real culprits involved in the attack.
