Jaipur: Many places in the state witnessed showers, dust and hail storms on Saturday, providing relief from the heatwave conditions. However, Jalore remained the hottest in the state, where a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Attributing the climatic change to active upper air cyclonic circulation and western disturbances, the Met office said similar conditions would prevail across the state on Sunday.
People in Jaipur woke up amidst a heavy dust storm in the morning, which was followed by scattered rainfall in the evening. "Due to bad weather in Delhi, three Delhi-bound international flights, including Melbourne to Delhi, Dhaka to Delhi, and Nepal to Delhi, were diverted towards Jaipur airport. Likewise, six Delhi-bound flights, including two from Hyderabad and one each from Jharkhand, Dimapur, Delhi, and Mumbai, were diverted to the Jaipur airport,” said a spokesperson of Jaipur airport, sharing information till 6.10 pm.
Several places in the city also witnessed showers, which guided the mercury to take a dip. “There would be a dip of almost 3 degree Celsius in the minimum and maximum temperatures in Jaipur on Sunday,” said an officer with the Met office.
Winds having a velocity of 20 to 30 km/hour brought a dust storm in the evening, which troubled people commuting on two-wheelers. In some localities, abrupt power cuts were witnessed, and technicians of the power department remained engaged in rectifying the snags to restore power.
The Met office further said that April is likely to witness dust and hail storms, alongwith rainfall at regular intervals. “A few more spells of western disturbances and upper air cyclonic circulation will be witnessed this month,” said an officer while quoting the weather forecast.
Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 23.6 degree Celsius and maximum of 36.5 degree Celsius.
