Kolhapur: Former BJP corporator RD Patil on Saturday resigned from the party membership and alleged that state minister Chandrakant Patil had hatched a conspiracy against six Shiv Sena candidates to ensure their defeat in the 2019 assembly
elections.
The ex-corporator said he had proof to substantiate the allegation and would expose Chandrakant Patil soon, following which deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis won’t even allow him to fight Maharashtra assembly elections.
“Though BJP and Shiv Sena were in alliance during the 2019 assembly elections, the then guardian minister of Kolhapur, Chandrakant Patil, had hatched a conspiracy to ensure defeat of six Shiv Sena candidates. I was in the core committee of the party and Chandrakant Patil had planned a strategy and accordingly four Sena MLAs lost the election,” RD Patil said, while addressing a press conference.
“If words of such people are respected and loyal officer-bearers like us are not valued, then what is the point in staying in the party. I am resigning from my party membership,” RD Patil said.
In an open challenge to Chandrakant Patil, the former corporator said he would be defeated if he tried to contest from any constituency in Kolhapur in the upcoming assembly elections. Responding to the allegations, BJP state secretary Mahesh Jadhav said, “A frog can never become a bull. Former corporator RD Patil has only made the allegations to defame Chandrakant Patil. Why has he made these allegations after five years?”
