Kolkata: Justice Ravi Krishan Kapur will hear on Friday the Bengal govt’s petition challenging the arbitration award given to Tata Motors Ltd.
Earlier, two benches of the Calcutta High Court had released the case.
In its petition, WBIDC had alleged that the award was given to Tata Motors in a “totally biased” process.
An arbitral tribunal had asked WBIDC to pay the company Rs 766 crore compensation in connection with Singur.
The state had filed an injunction petition seeking to restrain the authority from proceeding further in the matter. State advocate general Kishore Datta, appearing for WBIDC, had alleged that the presiding officer had a close relation with TML (Tata Motors). He also claimed that during pendency of the arbitral tribunal, the presiding officer had attended several functions of TML without disclosing the reason.
