Kolkata: The state higher education department on Thursday wrote to the West Bengal State University, Barasat, asking not to hold the annual convocation slated for April 26. But the university said it would go ahead with the convocation as the final nod came from governor-chancellor C V Ananda Bose.
The deputy secretary sent the letter the university’s registrar, saying the convocation should not be held as the university had no regular VC.
In such a state, the convocation will be in violation of the West Bengal State Universities rules, 2019. The letter also said that election code of conduct was .
Interim VC Raj Kumar Kothari said, “I have not seen the letter yet but we have informed the state by sending an invitation.” tnn
