Madurai: The Madurai city police on Tuesday arrested a 55-year-old man for illegally selling banned Kerala lottery tickets and seized around 75 lottery tickets along with cash from him.
Acting on a tip-off, police rounded up and questioned A Venkadesan, 55, of Kazimar Thoppu 1st Street, Southgate, near a temple at Southgate. On interrogation, Venkadesan confessed that he purchased the banned lottery tickets in bulk at Aryankavu in Kollam, Kerala, and was selling it to customers.
Following a search of his house, police seized around 75 banned tickets, two mobile phones, and more than 4.5 lakh cash.
Southgate police booked Venkadesan under sections 5 r/w 7 (3) of Tamil Nadu Lottery Regulation Act and sections 406, 420 of the IPC.TNN
