Bangladeshi welder arrested in Mumbai for unlawful stay
MUMBAI: A man who worked as a welder near Alamdina Masjid in Andheri (West) for the past few months was apprehended on Thursday following a tip-off received by the DN Nagar police station officials. The tip-off indicated that he was a Bangladeshi national who had unlawfully crossed the borders and had been living in Mumbai for the past few months.
Following his apprehension, the suspect Saiful Din Mohammed Khan (25) informed the police that he had been compelled to enter India as a result of the poverty prevailing in his country.
The police team became suspicious when Khan initially asserted that he was an Indian but was unable to furnish the necessary documents to substantiate his nationality. "When his mobile was scanned in the WhatsApp call history we found that he has made calls on several mobile numbers that are from Bangladesh and belong to his parents, relatives, and friends. Subsequently, he admitted that he originates from Bangladesh,' stated a police officer.
