Mumbai: Manik Jadhav, a complainant in the alleged Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank (MSCB) scam case, has sought the intervention of the Bombay High Court in a second closure report filed this Jan by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) before a special court in the city. Jadhav said the report specified that there is no criminal offence in the transactions allegedly linked to deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, his wife Sunetra Pawar and nephew Rohit Pawar, who is part of the Sharad Pawar-led faction, and others. The plea came up before a bench led by Justice Revati Mohite-Dere who recused herself from hearing the matter. It will be placed before another division bench in due course.
A special court designated for the trial of criminal cases involving MPs and MLAs had in February issued notice to another complainant Surinder Arora seeking his reply on the closure report. Jadhav’s affidavit of May 7 was in a petition filed by Arora and Jadhav in 2021 for transfer of EOW probe to CBI after EOW had filed its first closure report in September, 2020. tnn
