Mysuru: A day after the parliamentary election, many candidates who toiled hard campaigning for their victory for the last few three weeks, spent quality time with their family members, party workers at their residences here on Saturday.
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who contested on a
BJP ticket in Mysore parliamentary constituency, said that he toiled hard to reach the voters spread across the two districts.
He said the constituency is one of the largest constituencies.
He thanked officials for conducting the elections peacefully as well as his party workers who campaigned for him across the constituency. Both BJP and JD(S) activists worked along with him for his victory, he said.
During his campaigning, voters asked him to resolve tobacco growers’ problems, cleanliness and other civic issues. I hope the results will favour me, I’m collecting information from all party workers, and all sources, he said.
Congress candidate M Lakshmana who was also confident about his victory, thanked voters, party activists, for fielding a common party worker like him. He also thanked CM Siddaramaiah, deputy CM DK Shivakumar and AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge for their support.
He said that BJP had made all efforts to retain this constituency by denying a ticket to the sitting MP, and fielded royal family member Yaduveer though he was reluctant to contest elections when he had not even obtained primary membership of the party. However, this constituency witnessed a direct battle between him and Yaduveer.
Muslims have voted for me, says LakshmanaFollowing “Muslim rhetoric” by PM Modi , a large number of minority community voters have voted in favour of me during these elections, said M Lakshmana also extended thanks for them.
To a query, Lakshmana said he will meet Pratap Simmha after his victory, and will seek suggestions from him on how to tell lies. Though he met Simmha once at Bengaluru after his party denied a ticket to him, and had coffee at a hotel, Simmha refused to tell the reasons for denial of ticket to him, he added.
