Court closes Cong leader Barve’s case
Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay high court on Thursday closed the case filed by former Congress nominee for Ramtek Lok Sabha seat Rashmi Barve for judgment. A division bench comprising justices Avinash Gharote and Mukulika Jawalkar heard arguments from both sides at length.
Barve was the Congress nominee from Ramtek before her caste certificate was rejected by the caste scrutiny panel of the state social justice and special assistance department, alleging that she had obtained it on the basis of fake documents.
Subsequently, she was disqualified from contesting the polls by the returning officer. She had challenged rejection of her caste certificate by the caste panel in HC through counsels Shailesh Narnavare and Sameer Sonawane. tnn
