Govt allows export of nearly 1L tonnes of onions to 6 nations
Nashik: Centre on Saturday allowed export of 99,150 tonnes of onions to the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bahrain, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and the UAE.
The Union ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution issued a statement saying National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) would export onion to the six countries.
There has been strong resentment among the onion farmers after Centre banned exports of the produce in December last year, The ban has impacted the average wholesale prices at various mandis.

Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis turned to social media platform X to thank PM Narendra Modi for allowing onion export.
