Navi Mumbai: A total of 3,047 voting ballot units and as many control units, along with 3,206 voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) have been received for Raigad Lok Sabha seat. Similarly, 2,793 ballot units and control units have been received for Ratnagiri constituency along with 2,901 VVPATs. The two seats go to the polls in the third phase on May 7.
Ratnagiri district information officer Prashant Satpute said that more VVPATs are given against ballot and control units as standby.
The ballot unit is the electronic voting machine (EVM) that enables a voter with a button for each choice of candidate. The control unit is used by the polling officer to allow a voter to cast a vote. These two units are joined by a cable. A VVPAT lets voters check their vote.
