66 flying squadsfunctional for LS polls: Patna DM
Patna: Patna district magistrate (DM) Shirsat Kapil Ashok on Saturday said 20 cells, 503 sector officers, 66 flying squads and 132 static surveillance teams were functional here to ensure free, fair and transparent Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing an election review meeting, the DM asked the officials concerned to ensure that the model code of conduct is strictly adhered to and strict action as per law is taken against those found flouting it.
The officials told the DM that 27 FIRs were registered in the district for MCC violation.
Twenty enforcement agencies were also keeping watch on money transactions, the DM said. He asked the officials concerned to ensure minimum facilities, including drinking water, shed and washrooms for voters at all the 4,881 polling booths of the district.
The DM said voter information slip (VIS) should be handed over to the voters five days ahead of the polls. “The assistant electoral officers should visit four polling booths in their respective areas that registered lowest voter turnout in the last elections and ensure 100% VIS distribution,” he added.
Sector officers and assistant electoral officers have also been asked to visit the vulnerable pockets on a regular basis to infuse confidence among the voters.
