City hotel fire: Two remaining victims identified, no arrest yet
PATNA: After 48 hours of tragic fire incident in a hotel near Patna Junction under Kotwali police station area that claimed six lives, police identified two remaining victims on Saturday.
The police identified the two victims as Tej Pratap alias Bablu (30), who was posted as a soldier in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and Priyanka Kumari (26), who was a constable posted at Rosera Jail in Samastipur district.

Bablu was native of Obra in Aurangabad district and his mother is a sarpanch of Mahua panchayat. One of his friend Kundan from Jehanabad, recognised Bablu from the tattoo on his hand and informed his family members. The family was not able to reach him on phone for last couple of days, as he had not inform them that he was staying in Patna since April 24.
Police said they had found photograph of Priyanka in Bihar Police uniform. She was staying in the hotel on her way to home in Bhabua and had taken seven days leave from the work, said the police, adding that her family was not aware of this.
DSP (Kotwali) Krishna Murari Prasad said that it has come to light that both the deceased knew each other. “Kundan from Jehanabad, who had come to identify the body of the unidentified person, whose picture was circulated on the social media after the fire incident, also recognised the unidentified woman. He told the police that the woman worked in Samastipur. After which, we contacted the police line and sent her picture. She was deputed as a constable in Rosera jail,” he said.

He added, “Both, Bablu and Priyanka, had not informed their family members that they were staying in a hotel in Patna and had taken leave from their work places.”
When asked if any arrest was made in the fire incident, the DSP said the police team is investigating the case and after collecting evidences, further action will be taken against the hotel owners. “Two persons were named accused in this case,” he said.
The fire that had broken out on Thursday in the Patna hotel had killed six people, including Dinesh Singh from Bhabua, Rahul Kumar from Bhojpur, Raj Lokhi and his daughter Raj Lakshmi, who were residents of Purulia district in West Bengal. Meanwhile, condition of two persons remains critical with more than 95% burn injuries. They are undergoing treatment in the PMCH.
