CBI takes over PSC scam probe, BJP welcomes move

Raipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into the alleged irregularities, including nepotism and corruption, in the selections made through the Chhattisgarh PSC Exam 2021.
Immediately after coming to power in Dec last year, the BJP govt had announced that they would handover the PSC recruitment scam probe to the CBI.
The CBI, as per the centres notification, has taken over the investigation into the complaints registered at Arjunda police station of Balod district in Chhattisgarh under Section 420, 120-B of IPC and those registered with ACB/EOW police station of Raipur under Sections 120B, 420 of IPC and various Sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O P Choudhary said that there was considerable anger among the youth of the state regarding the irregularities in the PSC Examination 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, had assured an investigation into this matter and action against the guilty, he said.
Following the Prime Ministers assurance, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai government in Chhattisgarh had also decided in the Cabinet meeting on Jan 3, 2024, to get this matter investigated by the CBI based on complaints of irregularities in the PSC examination and the youth, he said.
After obtaining the consent of the state government, the Central Government has issued a notification for the investigation, and now this matter has been handed over to the CBI, he added.
Choudhary said that during the Bhupesh Baghel government, when the jobs of the youths used to be obtained through the PSC, Congress had set up a market. The BJP fought in the assembly to get justice for the youth who were cheated in the PSC recruitment exam. The Modi government at the Center has now ensured a CBI inquiry.
