Raipur: A Chhattisgarh dancer was gangraped by four men who had hired her for orchestra shows and taken her to neighbouring
Jharkhand last month. She says that she was drugged on the way back and sexually assaulted by her employers. She is in a hospital in Jharkhand.
Police have arrested two of the accused. The other two — said to be juveniles — are on the run.
Police said that her last performance for the orchestra was on Sunday night in a town around 200km from Ranchi. After the event, she was returning with her colleagues when the four accused offered her a soft drink they had laced with sedatives.
She says in her complaint that she fell semi-unconscious and the four took turns to rape her in the moving vehicle. They dropped her, still sedated, at a hotel in Palamu and fled.
When she regained consciousness, she approached Palamu police and filed a complaint. Police named the two adult suspects as Deewana and Ajay. Both of them are in custody. Chhattisgarh police are in touch with their Palamu counterparts. The survivor will be brought to Chhattisgarh when she is discharged from hospital.
It is common for women in Chhattisgarh to join 'orchestras' as dancers and singers to perform in other states.
