Sunday respite from soaring summer: drizzle likely today
Raipur: Temperature in Chhattisgarh soared recently, after a shift in weather. On Sunday, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in Raipur, Durg, and the Bastar division. There's also a chance of thunderstorms and lightning in Raipur and nearby areas.
According to state meteorologist H P Chandra, a western disturbance is spread in the form of cyclonic circulation from 3.1 km to 5.8 km height above central Afghanistan.
Along with this, a trough is located in the upper air at 7.6 km height at 64 degrees east and 25 degrees north.
While an upper air circulation is spread up to 0.9 km height above South Chhattisgarh. An irregular movement of the trough is spread to 1.5 km height from Marathwada to North Tamil Nadu. Due to this, the arrival of abundant moisture from the Bay of Bengal in the state continues.
Furthermore, there is a possibility of light rain or drizzle along with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the state on Sunday.
As per the Meteorological Department, maximum temperature is expected to decline in the coming two or three days while afterwards, the mercury could continue escalating.
On Saturday, the weather in the Capital city was cloudy in the morning which later in the afternoon changed to hot sunny weather with the maximum temperature at 41.6 degrees Celsius.
10 districts including Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Mahasamund, Bemetara, Gariyaband, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Bilaspur, Koriya, Gourela-Pendra-Marwahi are places where light rains, drizzles are expected in coming days up to April 29, added MET.
