Rajkot: Brace up for a blistering summer now. As forecast, temperatures soared across Gujarat on Tuesday with several cities recording 40-plus degrees.
Rajkot, the commercial capital of Saurashtra, was the hottest in the state with the maximum temperature of 42.1 Celsius, which was three degrees above normal. Rajkot was followed by Deesa (41.6C), Bhuj (41.4C) and Surendranagar which recorded 41.

In most places, the day-time temperature was 2-3 degrees above normal,
Valsad saw cooler nights with a temperature of 17.8C, which was four degrees below normal. The daytime temperature was 35.6 C.
On the other hand, Diu, the picturesque union territory, saw the minimum temperature increase by 4.6 degrees above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data.
IMD has forecast dry weather till April 13. The bulletin stated that light rain is very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Gir-Somnath in Saurashtra on April 14.
Ahmedabad too reeled under severe heat as the mercury touched 40.8C during the day while the state capital Gandhinagar recorded 40.5C.
