GSHSEB results: Students from humble backgrounds triumph in Rajkot district
Rajkot: Students from humble backgrounds triumphed in Rajkot district as the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Thursday declared the results for the Class 12 science and general stream exams.
For Class 12 science stream, 7,363 students (92.06%) cleared the exam in Rajkot district and 96 students of them passed with A1 grade while 1,063 secured A2 grade.

According to GSHSEB, 21,015 (93.29%) students cleared the Class 12 general stream exam with 889 securing A1 grade and 3,984 getting A2 grade.
Sujal Talsaniya, who scored 99.15 percentile in Class 12 science stream, said she wants to become a doctor. Her father Vijal Talsaniya and mother Bhavuben Talsaniya earn a living by working as casual labourers.
“My parents never pressured me to get good marks. Besides school, I studied 3-4 hours every day at home and focused on revising the course. I want to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor,” Sujal Talsaniya told TOI.
Rishita Nandasana was among the toppers in the state in Class 12 general stream with 99.98 percentile. Her mother Ranjanben Nandasana is a primary school teacher, while her father Atul Nandasana is a conductor with the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) in Jamjodhpur town of Jamnagar.

Rishita prepared for her board exams staying away from her family. “I did my schooling in Rajkot and lived in a hostel there. Besides six hours in school, I used to study several hours at the hostel,” Rishita told TOI.
She said that her family was overwhelmed with her result. She has already started preparation to become a chartered accountant. She has also appeared for entrance exam to secure admission in CA training institute in Ahmedabad.
With 98.77 percentile in Class 12 general stream, Rajkot’s Sujal Devani is on cloud nine. A student of Dholakia High School, Devani said that he never felt the need for extra class to prepare for the board exams. “I studied in school and then for three hours at home. I plan to crack the UPSC and become an IAS officer,” Devani told TOI.
Devani’s father Manish and mother Jina run a small roadside eatery behind the Rajkot bus depot.
“I have already started preparing for the UPSC exam through classes that prepare students for competitive exams,” said Devani.
Shruti Natda, who secured 99.72 percentile in Class 12 (Arts) is daughter of a autorickshaw driver. She also wants to become and IAS officer. “I want to become an IAS officer. So I chose Arts subject in HSC,” Shruti told TOI.
Her father Jilubhai Natda is an autorickshaw driver and her mother Jyoti is a home-maker.
