All women-crew train to run between Ranchi and Tori
Ranchi: A passenger train of Jharkhand will be run by an all-women crew on Friday. The move, officials of the Ranchi railway division of the South Eastern Railways (SER) said, is aimed at honouring the contribution of its women workforce.
The Ranchi-Tori passenger train, which traverses 111 km over a span of 2.5 hours, will be flagged off from the Ranchi railway station by women employees of the railway division.

The train will be manned by a woman loco-pilot and an assistant loco-pilot. There will be a woman guard, 10 women RPF constables and six women TTEs on board. The train will leave the Ranchi railway station at 8am and reach the Tori railway station at 10:30am after crossing Argora, Piska, Itki, Tangarbasuli, Narkopi, Nagjua, Akashi, Irgaon, Lohardaga, Barkichapi, and Bodhagram.
It will start its return journey from Tori at 11am and reach Ranchi at 1:30pm.
The senior divisional commercial manager at the Ranchi railway division, Nishant Kumar, said, “Besides, the bulk of work at the Ranchi railway station premises will be carried out by the women employees. A high number of women booking clerks and women RPF constables would be deployed at the station compared to their male counterparts. The crew would be posted based on the roster.”
Notably, the Ranchi railway division has been running an all-women crew train on International Women’s Day since 2018. The division converted Ranchi into an all-women manned station to mark the day in 2023.
