ED questions Sanjeev Lal’s wife in ₹37cr haul
Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned Rita Lal, wife of arrested Sanjeev Lal, in connection with the recovery of over Rs 37 crore in searches carried out by the central agency at several places in Ranchi in last three days. Sanjeev is the personal secretary of state rural development minister and Congress’s leader of legislative party Alamgir Alam.

The ED had carried out searches at 12 places on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and unearthed over Rs 37 crore. The central agency had arrested Sanjeev in this connection.
Rita arrived at the ED office along with an advocate at around noon. She was interrogated for several hours during the day. Sources said that the ED asked preliminary questions on how long Jehangir and Sanjeev were associated and about the proprieties in her name. Rita would be summoned later as well. It may be stated here that the special PMLA court has also remanded Sanjeev and Jehangir to ED for questioning in connection with recoveries.
