Harsh Johar curriculum empowers students through holistic edu
Ranchi : The Harsh Johar curriculum has been implemented under Project Sampoorna, a collaborative effort of the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) and Jharkhand Educational Research and Training Council, to promote holistic education. The initiative aims to nurture social-emotional learning (SEL) skills among students in government schools, focusing on empathy, critical thinking, self-esteem and emotional resilience.
Students facing marginalization and persistent stress have reaped the benefits of the curriculum, which is currently implemented in 121 government schools, 80 Chief Minister Excellent Schools and 41 Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential Schools from 2022.
The school manager at TVS Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Vidyalaya in Ranchi, S M Omair, said, “Harsh Johar curriculum helps promote joyful learning among students with the help of simple and effective activities. It is social, emotional and creative. The curriculum showcased its ability to empower students, build confidence and foster positive socio-emotional development in the realm of education.”
Khushi, a student of KGBV, Nirsa, Dhanbad, said, “Participation in the ‘Importance of Listening’ session under the Harsh Johar curriculum marked a turning point for me. Now, I sit confidently in the front row, actively engage in classes and enjoys spending time with friends.”
Sonika Kumari a class X student from KGBV, Gandey, Giridih, said, “The Harsh Johar sessions provided me with a supportive environment to challenge gender stereotypes.”
