High court allows Bageshwar Baba’s programme in Palamu
Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Monday cleared the decks for holding the much-awaited programme of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri in Palamu from February 10 to February 15. The programme will be held in Chainpur Block in Palamu.
Justice Ananda Sen while hearing a writ petition filed by the Hanumant Katha Ayojan Samiti ordered the district administration to make arrangements for the visitors who will attend the programme.
The court set aside the order of the Palamu deputy commissioner who had cancelled the application of the samiti seeking permission to hold the programme.
The court also directed the samiti to furnish a plan for the function to the deputy commissioner. The district administration will look into the basic facilities of seating arrangements, CCTV, ambulance services, parking and sanitation requirements of the visitors.
Around 2 lakh people are likely to take part in the event to be held by the religious leader. The deputy commissioner’s office had earlier turned down the application of the samiti citing the reason that such a large gathering of people in Palamu would pose a threat to the law and order situation and, therefore, the programme could not be allowed to be conducted.
