Ranchi: Janata Dal (U) state president and MP Kheeru Mahto on Monday said he has assigned responsibilities to party workers for ensuring victory of NDA candidates in
Jharkhand, adding the workers would start to actively campaign from Tuesday.
Speaking to the media after his party’s state-level meeting in Ranchi, Mahto said his party members had complaints they were being ignored by alliance partners in Jharkhand.
He stated several BJP leaders including state president Babulal Marandi and sitting MP from Ranchi Sanjay Seth met him in the recent days and sought support in the elections.
Mahto said while JD(U) has not got a seat in Jharkhand for parliamentary elections, the senior leaders of the alliance have assured the party would fight in Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha elections to be held later in the year. Asked about Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Mahto said, “The CM is unlikely to campaign in Jharkhand as the party is not in fray.” tnn
